Let’s see if I’ve got this right. Years before 9/11, the neo-con Project for a New American Century plans for the invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq to ensure access to natural gas and oil reserves, after decades of US support for both Hussein’s brutal regime and the Taliban. The tragic events of 9/11 provide the political support to proceed on false evidence of WMD and Hussein’s support for Al Qaeda.
The Iraq invasion is ill-conceived, ill-planned, incompetently and dishonestly executed. If the liberal left had supported the invasion, the terrorists would have seen the error of their ways and democracy and peace would now prevail in a prosperous Iraq. By not supporting the war, the left must be supporters of fascistic governments and movements. At least the liberal-left has principles to compromise, which is more than can be said for right-wing supporters of the great neo-con con job and Julie Szego (The Age 20/2/2007).
Nothing like denial. The next thing, Julie will be blaming the Iraqis for being too lazy, incompetent, or stupid for not making the most of the oppportunity provided by the Coalition of the Willing bombing their infrastructure into the Stone Age. Damned ingrates.
