The Dog’s Bollocks

Truth is like a dog’s bollocks – pretty obvious if you care to look.

As if from nowhere came the dog’s bollocks

After a flurry of blogging yesterday had stimulated the creative juices the term ‘the dog’s bollocks’ came to mind out of nowhere. I thought it would make a good name for a blog. We have ‘the bees knees’, ‘the cat’s pyjamas’ so why not ‘the dog’s bollocks’? I don’t even know if I’ve heard the term before, but it had a certain resonance to it.

Phrases.org in the UK define ‘the dog’s bollocks’ as “excellent – the absolute apex”. Sounds even better! If there’s a reason for my Soap Box blog , it’s to cut through the spin to the ‘truth’ behind the issues of the day (OK and to let off steam).

Truth is like a dog’s bollocks – pretty obvious if you care to look – but most of us prefer to avert our gaze, or even have them permanently removed. But make no mistake, the dog’s bollocks are the essence of what makes a dog a dog. We all know what dogs like to do.

And the dog of our great global free-market corporate culture and its political masters, also have bollocks, both literal and metaphoric

To celebrate its inclusion today on the Blog Feed at OzPolitics, I hereby declare this blog relaunched as The Dog’s Bollocks. May [insert preferred deity, ideology, paradigm or non-belief] bless all who pass by here.
